THE BEST EGG FRIED RICE RECIPE

Now, you might be wondering why this egg fried rice recipe is called "Uncle Roger Fried Rice." Well, I came across a viral video of Nigel Ng, also known as Uncle Roger, criticizing a fried rice tutorial video.

Uncle Roger claims to make the best fried rice, so I wanted to recreate it myself, taste it, and of course, share it with you guys. Because let's face it, if this is actually the best fried rice recipe in the world, everyone should know how to make it!

With that said, the Uncle Roger fried rice recipe consists of a chicken flavored rice, fried egg, and a simple yet flavorful stir fry-like sauce. And, I have to say, spoiler alert, is without a doubt the best egg fried rice you'll ever make!

Plus, it goes with pretty much anything, like this blackened shrimp, but it's filled with so much awesomeness that it really makes a great main meal too.

Also, for what it's worth, my favorite part about this egg fried rice is everything cooks together in the same pan! So the cooking process - and clean up - is super quick and easy.

STEP 1: MAKING THE BASE

First, cook any chicken flavored rice that you want according to the directions on the package.

While the rice is cooking, whisk the whole egg and the egg yolk in a small bowl, and set it aside.

Next, coat a wok pan with peanut oil and put it over medium heat. Once it starts smoking, pour the excess oil out of the pan. Then add the garlic and shallot and fry them for 3 minutes.

STEP 2: COMPLETING THE EGG FRIED RICE

Once the time is up, add the beaten egg to the wok and stir it around until it's almost solid. Then add the cooked rice and mix it with everything in the wok.

After it's mixed, add the soy sauce and sesame oil and flatten it into the rice with the back of a spoon.

Next, add the MSG, spring onion, and chili to the wok and cook for a minute or so, mixing all of the ingredients together.

Now that the rice is complete, serve it alone or with your favorite pair and enjoy!

HOW TO STORE FRIED RICE

If you serve this on the side, you'll get about 4 servings out of the fried rice. But if you want to eat it as a main meal, you'll probably get about 2 servings.

Now, with that said, you can always double or triple this recipe if you want to have more or some leftovers.

Then, if you do have leftovers, just transfer them to an airtight container, and they'll last in the fridge for about 5-7 days.

And if you want to save it for longer, transfer the fried rice to freezer-safe bags, and you can freeze it for up to 3 months!

For reheating fried rice - refrigerated or frozen - you can just put it back on a wok or skillet over medium heat until it reaches your desired temperature. Make sure you stir everything frequently so it heats up evenly.
