Is D+ passing at Ohio State? ›

Emergency Pass (PE)

When the PE grade scheme is activated, D+ or D grades will automatically change to PE for undergraduate students, and E will be automatically changed to NP. PE and NP marks do not impact your GPA, but you will still earn credit hours for PE marks (no credit hours are earned for NP).

When ordering a transcript from your prior school, request that your transcript be sent electronically and select The Ohio State University as a recipient. In the absence of a list of universities to select, have your school email your secured transcript directly.

Ohio State offers an academic policy called the Grade Forgiveness Rule. Under this rule, students can petition to complete a second attempt at a course and, once completed, remove the grade of the first attempt from their OSU GPA calculation. You must submit a grade forgiveness petition to utilize this rule.

The meaning of each grade is as follows: A, A–, excellent; B+, B, and B–, good; C+ and C, competent; C–, continuation competency (the student has achieved the level of proficiency needed for the course to satisfy prerequisite requirements); D+, D, and D–, passing, but performance is not adequate to take any subsequent ...

Transcript Symbols and Notations

An (H) at the end of a course title indicates an honors course.

If you were completing course work when you applied and you are admitted, you are required to have a final official transcript for that work sent to Graduate and Professional Admissions once grades and degrees are listed on your transcript. Includes a degree statement listing the name of your degree and date conferred.

Most orders will be mailed within three (3) business days for a Standard Request and one (1) business day for Rush Processing. Electronic transcripts will be sent within one (1) business day for a Standard Request and within an hour for Rush Processing.

Does Ohio State look at senior year grades? ›

Your admission is contingent on our review of your final high school transcript. If you fail to maintain the high academic standards under which you were admitted, your admission to Ohio State may be canceled.

A PE grade is equivalent to a D+ or D and is not accepted to meet a program or course requirement of a C- or better. More information here.

Ohio State students get three opportunities to use Grade Forgiveness. You can choose any three classes you want, but both attempts of the class need to be completed at Ohio State. Only a second attempt can forgive the first attempt at Ohio State. A third attempt cannot forgive a second attempt, for example.

When you earn a better grade the second or third time, you may be eligible for Grade Forgiveness, which allows you to replace the previous grade with the new one. This means that the old grade will be taken out of your GPA, however all attempts will still appear on your transcript.

At most schools, a D is the lowest passing grade. That means students who earn a D or higher receive credit for the course. However, some schools set special policies around D grades.

Courses with an earned D+, D, or D- will automatically convert to the Satisfactory grade unless it is on the exempted course list.. All F grades will automatically convert to the No Credit grade. (FN and FS grades remain on your record and will impact your grade point average.)

D is the lowest grade for which credit is given in any undergraduate college and means that, although in the judgment of the instructor credit should be allowed for the course, a degree will not be conferred upon a student whose work is all of that level.
