This recipe for Inside Out Grilled Cheese is made with Hawaiian Rolls stuffed with ham, cheese and seasoning! It makes one big grilled cheese to share!

A FUN TWIST ON GRILLED CHEESE

The sweet rolls take these from good to over-the-top yummolicious! All you’re going to do is slice the rolls in half (all in one go) and flip them inside out (hence the name) and put in your yummy leftover ham and cheese and whatever else your family wants. And the key secret to make the best grilled cheese? Mayonnaise! Instead of slathering butter on the outside of your rolls, you are going to slather on mayonnaise. It not only adds to the flavor but it makes the outside crispy and golden brown.

HOW TO MAKE INSIDE OUT GRILLED CHEESE:

Cut across all the rolls lengthwise. Just make one long even cut.Note: I spread out a longsheet of parchment paper or wax paper on my counter before preparing these. It just makes the clean up easier when I’m done.

Then flip the rolls inside out. The outsides of the rolls are now going to be your insides!

Start placing the ham down on top of the rolls. Just layering it as even as you can.

Gently place the other half of the rolls on top. Spread the outside of this bread layer with an even but generous layer of mayonnaise. Start heating up your large pan or griddle on medium-high heat.

Once the rolls have started to turn golden brown, flip the whole thing over.Iuse two spatulas (one on each end) to help me flip it over easily.

Put the lid back on (keeping heat on medium) and allow the opposite side to brown and to allow the cheese to finish melting. Place the entire sandwich onto a serving platter or a large plate.I just used one of my larger cutting boards. Slice then serve!

Sounds yummy. I think I would split the main bunch of rolls in half – then split and turn inside out. I have a squisher grill that will hold half that amount, then you don’t have to worry about flipping it. Did that make sense?
