This spiced tea with sweet tones of brown sugar and vanilla is the perfect drink for a cool morning! This Chai tea Latte is very easy to make at home and is much cheaper and better than buying the boxed chai lattes often served at coffee shops! I personally believe this homemade chai latte is even better than Starbuck’s chai latte!

- 2 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger

- 2 cups whole milk

Instructions
Place the tea bags and spices in the filter of a drip coffee maker. Add water to the coffee maker and brew.

Once tea is brewed and the sweetened milk mixture is heated, mix all together and pour into mugs. Serve with whipped topping (optional) and enjoy!
Notes
You can also use Vanilla creamer instead of Vanilla simple syrup. Add to the milk mixture to taste.
Feel free to use dairy free milk, such as Almond or Oat milk, in this chai latte recipe.

Equipment:
- Drip Coffee machine Using a drip coffee machine to brew the tea and spices together makes this recipe a breeze!
- Saucepan I use a medium sized saucepan to whisk up the milk and sweeteners.
- Whisk I prefer to use a wire handled whisk because I’ve had too much trouble with plastic whisks leaking while I’m stirring!
- Mugs Serving this Chai tea latte from scratch in a pretty mug makes the experience even more enjoyable!
note* I use Torani French vanilla coffee syrup for this recipe. You can find vanilla syrups at most grocery stores or supermarkets, but you can also add a little vanilla extract and more sugar to taste if you do not have vanilla syrup on hand.

The scoop on chai tea and myself:
When I discovered this drink as a teenager it quickly became a favorite of mine. I have many good memories of sitting around with my siblings and friends, drinking this hot chai tea latte and playing games during the cold and dismal winters we have here in the Northeast. Another plus for me with this drink is that is has some caffeine but not enough to keep me from sleeping at night, making it a great afternoon pick me up!

Combine the Milk, vanilla syrup (or vanilla extract plus a little extra sweetener) for the milk mixture.
Can French vanilla creamer be used instead of vanilla syrup?
Yes, French vanilla creamer can also be used in the milk mixture. Add the creamer to taste just as you would add vanilla extract and sugar to taste.
Can the amount of sugar added be adjusted if I find the milk mixture too sweet for my taste?
Absolutely, feel free to adjust the amounts of the brown sugar and vanilla syrup (or substitutions) to taste. If the drink is not sweet enough for your preference, you can also add more sweetener of your choice, whether you prefer to add more vanilla syrup or more brown sugar is up to you!

Once the milk mixture and the spiced tea is brewed, simply pour the tea into the milk mixture, stir and enjoy!
