With Spring finally upon us, I have been itching to get out into the yard. Winter always leaves our yard needing some serious work. With the warmer weather and sunshine, we enjoy spending more time outdoors…even if it means doing some Outdoor Spring Clean Up.
There are a few things you can do to make the Spring Clean Up easier. Here are 5 areas to focus on for your Spring Clean Up.
1. Clean up your yard.
Rake up and remove any dead grass, sticks, leaves and other debris from your yard that have built up over the winter. Mow your lawn, be carefulnot to cut it too short.Depending on your area and the type of grass you have, now is a great time to fertilize and feed your lawns after they have been dormant over the winter months.
2. Prep your gardens.
Remove dead plants, weeds and other debris from your flower gardens. Prune back bushes and shrubs. Remove older mulch from your garden and replace it with new fresh mulch. Now is also a good time to start preparing your vegetable gardening for planting by pulling weeds, tilling your soil and adding manure and fertilizer to your garden space.
3. Clean your windows, garage door and gutters.
After a long winter of rain, snow, and wind, the outside of your windows and their screens can become very dirty.Spring is the perfect time to clean the outside of your windows, and to remove the screens giving them a good scrub as well. Check your gutters and remove any dead leaves and other debris that may clog them. Doing this will help to make sure that water is properly drained away from your home and will help to prevent water damage.
4. Deck cleaning and maintenance:
Your outdoor decks and porchesalso tend to get dirty over the long winter months. Maintaining and cleaning your deck in the spring will help to ensure that it will hold up long for years to come. If you have wooden deck you will need to clean off the dirt and debris, then apply a stain in order to help seal and protect your deck. For a composite deck you will just need to use a mild cleaner and hose the dirt and debris off of it.
5. Organize and clean out garage.
The garage (and sheds) tend to collect clutter. Spring is the perfect time to clean them out and get them organized. This can help you take an inventory of your outdoor yard tools so you can be prepared for working in the yard well into the summer and fall months.
Great tips to get your yard and outdoor spaces ready for a summer full of fun! Well, that is not all…Today I get to give one of you a great outdoor tool to help you with some of your Yard Spring Clean Up…

After the winter is over, I think it is a great time to clean up your yard. The cold weather keeps me from having any desire at all to work on my garden and so the weeds start to overgrow the flowerbeds. Cleaning up the yard is the chore that officially kicks off spring for me.
